Exceptional conservation
We’re experienced in working in the most sensitive listed environments, ensuring that they can continue to flourish in their original character. Our recent refurbishment of a stunning moated Grade I listed 15th century medieval hall house is a shining example of this. We’re completing conservation refurbishment to extend the life of this building using only the existing, historical service runs; without making any new penetrations through the structure; and working intimately with the Local Authority Conservation Officer to ensure that our work is completely faithful to the character of the protected property. Such is our success that Conservation Officers from around the country have been invited to view our progress on this project. The work was entered into the Surrey Heritage awards and also won the ‘Surrey Historic Buildings Trust award for Best Building Craftsmanship’.

We’re experienced in building for public access, meeting modern regulations in a discreet and sensitive manner. During our work on the Grade I listed West Horsley Place, we stabilised brickwork facades, and installed mist sprinklers to meet fire safety standards while minimising water risk to interiors. We also installed brand new visitor toilets with full accessibility, integrating them visually through the use of exposed beams and traditional wattle and daub.
